Bird crazy...or is that crazy birds?

You'd think that with three cats and two dogs, one a very playful puppy, our back yard would be devoid of any bird like creatures. How very wrong you'd be! We seem to have more birds than any other place in town and they are extremely cheeky. Some of them will hop right up on the cats' food dishes and sample leftover kitty crunches...while the cats are snoozing on the chair next to them!

Yes, our cats may be a tad lazy...

Lately, these little yellow guys have been carrying on day in and day out. They're loud and obnoxious, but at least they sit still for a few seconds sometimes!

There's a pack (flock, group, cabal?) of about five of them that tend to group up, but I can only ever seem to get three at a time...




They also seem to love the cyclone screen on my office window


We also have one odd duck who actually prefers to sit in the tree

Birds acting strangely aren't limited to the house. Outside the dive shop most mornings a bunch of white cockies (I think they are actually corellas, but who really cares?!) hang out in the street around a little puddle of water

Sunday afternoon together

Dave and I finally got to spend a little time together yesterday afternoon. It was a totally gorgeous day with no wind and clear skies. We took the Girls to one of Dave's favourite fishing spots and just hung out. There weren't even any sand flies!








The Girls and I played in the water, had a walk, and were generally lazy while Dave fished from the rocks. Now and then the Girls would try to help him :)



He caught a couple of little flatheads that he let go so it was more for entertainment than for dinner!

Dora wasn't as involved as Til was but she did supervise

It was such a nice way to spend a couple of hours







We also were treated to a big osprey hanging out alongside the track on the way to the beach


Days like this remind me why I love living here - the sun, deserted beaches, jeweled waters, awesome scenery & wildlife, my darling hubby and my fuzzy kids...what more could a girl want on a Sunday afternoon?!

Whale Shark Season is a'comin fast!

The past few days have seen our phones ringing off the hook and my inbox constantly refilling with people enquiring about coming up during whale shark season.  Here's hoping it's a fantastic season with lots of sharks, good weather and many, many clients!

We had survey for the boats today so no tour was scheduled.  This meant we all got to have a little bit of a sleep in.  Of course, I was wide awake and in the office at 4 a.m.  Why does that always happen?!  I finished the first round of emails just before seven so coaxed the girls (yeah, right, more like got the heck out of the way as they bolted through the door!) into the car and hit the beach.  The sun had just barely started to give the sky a glow when we arrived...I love watching the morning change.

Dave is driving home from his week in Kalbarri today and it will be really nice to have him home again. Hopefully we'll actually have some time to spend together for a change!

Coral trout is yum!

Last week some very nice spearo friends brought us two huge coral trout. We love fresh coral trout!
